After you install your Prestashop 1.4.0 , you will need to activate your SEO-Friendly URL mode under your Preferences > SEO & URLS and enable your Friendly URL option then save. But to enable you to this feature, you are recommends to generate a .htaccess file.

Go to your Tools > Generators and enable the “Optimization” and “Friendly” then hit the “Generate .htaccess file” button. This will automatically generate new .htaccess file or erase the old .htaccess in your FTP site.

Output change

• All main URLs will rewrites to SEO-Friendly URL
• Homepage URL will add an EN as an ISO code for English languages and it looks like this http://www.domain.com/en/ if your language is set to English.

But some developer and shop owner don’t wants the EN added to their URL. They want the homepage URL http://www.domain.com/ only. It is much prettier URL if no EN, right. And I know some people out there want to remove the EN in their newly setup Prestashop 1.4.0 version. And we have a simple solution for that.
